Last summer, we had two service teams travelling to Uganda from Hong Kong, helping to raise funds and build a well in the Gulu community in northern Uganda. Let us share the progress of the construction and the benefits it has brought to the community.
Layibi has a population of about 40,000. Before the well is built, women and children would need to walk for long distance to fetch water in other unclean water sources. The well is now in use to provide clean water for local residents, while also irrigating nearby crops, benefiting women in the community.
The first phase of the well project was completed earlier with the help of the volunteer group of CUHK S. H. Ho College! The second phase of the project is the construction of a water storage tower. We are grateful to share that the second phase of the project has been successfully completed. We hope the facility will improve the lives of local residents in the long run.
We are very grateful to have Asian friends with different backgrounds among them, who went to Uganda to participate in the Watoto ministry! To support our community projects, please contact asia@watoto.com.
