My name is Victoria Nantambi.
When I was about one week old, I lost my father to tuberculosis. Two of my brothers and I were then taken on by my paternal grandma who supported our education by making local brew. As she grew older, it became very hard for her to continue supporting us.
One day, two ladies from Watoto came to our home in Mukono and asked my grandma where she needed help. Grandma then registered me and my brother with the Watoto team.
At eight years old, my mother passed away and the cause of her death was not known. When I was taken on by Watoto Child Care Ministries, I was introduced to a new family of loving people with a mother who cared for me like her own. I got three other sisters and four brothers. Together we have grown up as one family.
In 2008, I got an opportunity to travel with the Watoto Children’s Choir. It was a lot of fun and spreading the gospel to Asia has brought me immense joy. I enjoyed the experience for six months.
Watoto was able to nurture my career dreams that had been shattered. I have always been passionate about caring for other people especially those that are sick. I was so blessed to be able to enroll in the Bachelor of Nursing program that I love the most. I got to practice for four months after every academic year and it brought me great joy doing what I have always loved to do.
In July 2024, I completed my Bachelor’s Program in Nursing Science from one of the most competent universities in Uganda, as the Best Student of the year.
I am so thankful to God for using Watoto Child Care Ministries to bring my dreams to life. My great appreciation goes out to all the sponsors who make this possible. May God surely bless you.
