United College, CUHK visited Watoto Village in June for the second time since last summer. The CUHK volunteers set up a colorful toy library for Watoto children. In preparation for that, the volunteers spent a lot of time and efforts collecting, selecting, cleaning and categorising toys in Hong Kong, as well as transporting them all the way to Uganda, Africa. Let us share the love and joy the toy library has brought to the children.
This year, the volunteers went to the Watoto Village in Bbira. Seeing the boxes of toys, the children there could not wait to enjoy the toy library, through which our volunteers could interact with the children.
The volunteers spared no effect in serving, from mixing the paints, drafting murals, painting to cleaning. The entire project was completed in just three days. They designed a mural depicting with African animals to decorate the toy library. We believe that all those toys and the mural will leave the children with a wonderful childhood and many happy memories.
Last Year, there was also service teams from United College, CUHK also visiting another Watoto Village in Suubi. The volunteers designed and painted a mural for the first toy library with the theme of ocean.
We hope this toy library project not only brings joys, but also precious memories for our children. When they are grown up, they will surely look back with gratitude on the joyful times they spent here. The boundless love and care will undoubtedly become motivation for these children in their future journeys.
We are deeply grateful to have such a great team of enthusiastic volunteers who traveled to Uganda to participate in the Watoto ministry! For details about Visit Watoto, please click here to find out.
